Social is a beautiful restaurant, bar in the heart of Newton with lively interesting decor (I would share pictures but wouldn’t want to spoil your wandering eyes when you go) and a lovely view of the clock tower. Social stands on its own merits in regards to the food and drinks. Unique to Newton in that food of this quality is not readily available. Lia was a very bubbly and lovely host. Despite us walking in 10 minutes before kitchen close was happy to take our order with a smile. She also gave the perfect amount of interaction in regards to check ins taking orders and leaving us to have our own conversations. The drinks were also exceptional and original in that we’ve not seen them before in the picture left is Royal English Breakfast and while small was packed with flavour. On the right and close you see the poppy seed sour which was also divine but not at all as I expected it to taste. The food was really the stand out. The steak was cooked perfectly and the garnishing chips, and veg was very tasty and fresh. I also opted for the garlic prawns which were sensational in taste. The pizza was also very nice, albeit slightly heavy on the cheese but this is just a preference of my partner and something to note for next time. Overall the price is slightly more than a typical pub grub which is available close by but very in line with other sit down restaurants nearby. To put this into perspective the pizza was 15 and the steak and additional prawns 25 roughly. Drinks were 2 for 16. However the quality was extraordinary so if you were to ask me between picking paying an extra 10-20 in comparison to somewhere like wether-spoons, it’s entirely worth it to go to Social. We will be back. Karl and Lucy.
Newton abbot has several eateries which are worthy of a visit every month and Social Bar and kitchen has really added to that list. The service was perfect and attentive, food was varied and suitable for all tastes with a lunch menu to support those wanting to watch the pennies. Overall a brilliant lunch and am already looking forward to going back to have the rump steak fries.
Social Bar and Kitchen provided an amazing bottomless brunch experience for celebrating our friends birthday. 3x ladies working 18.1.24 were so attentive. Highly recommend great value and amazing food and drinks. Thanks
Another amazing meal at the Social Bar & Kitchen this evening. Tapas awesome, such incredible flavours and cooked to perfection, steak and chips melt in the mouth, attention to detail out of this world and chips declared the ‘best ever’ Staff are so friendly and service excellent. Cocktails a must!! Cannot recommend highly enough and will definitely back again!! Thank you team
Wow! Just had THE finest steak burger with to die for chips! (Not forgetting the cheese dip!) We also had the Spicy Chorizo pizza, which had crushed peanuts and honey on top, which was amazing! In fact my wife and I couldn't decide which one to have, so we had half of each! The staff are brilliant, helpful and friendly and the food is sourced locally wherever they can. This is a real gem for the town, so we must make sure we support it! 10/10 from me!
Me and my family went here for a quick lunch. The food was excellent and tasted delicious. Loved the chips and the beef and chicken burgers we had tasted amazing. Service was also impeccable and they were super friendly. Would totally recommend to friends and family if they are every visiting nearby.
Recent first time visit with friends for lunch. The food was delicious, I missed getting most of the pics as people tucked straight in! Tapas lunch menu was very reasonable for the amount per dish. Coffee came with a little sweet treat , which was delicious and much better than the usual standard biscuit you get in some places, a real surprise. (Lemon Cannoli) Chap who served us was friendly and the service was quick.
Have been a few times for bottomless brunch not only the food is great but the choices of cocktails are amazing! Lia makes top tier cocktails with excellent presentation! Highly recommend
